On the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) National Day on 1 October 2023, dozens of Uyghurs, Tibetans, and Hongkongers rally outside the White House in Washington, D.C., as part of a global “Day of Mourning” action targeting Chinese Communist Party’s totalitarian dictatorship. Held on the 74th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, the rally was one of no less than 22 protests around the world that called for a free Hong Kong, a free Tibet, a free China, the release of political prisoners such as Jimmy Lai, and an end to the Communist Party of China’s genocide of Uyghurs and Tibetans.
