A Washington, D.C.-based Hongkonger NGO, DC4HK – Washingtonians Supporting Hong Kong, event – “July 1st Funeral – Mourning the Death of Hong Kong’s Freedom’s” outside the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Economic and Trade Office. The installation highlights the Chinese Communist Party’s failed “One Country, Two Systems” policy for Hong Kong that was to continue until 2047 and the regime’s premature cessation in 2020 of the “City of Protests” promised freedoms. Placards depict some of the 1,000+ pro-democracy and Hongkonger political prisoners.
